Katy Perry's 'Part Of Me' Film Inspired By Madonna

Much like her pop-star peers, Katy Perry cites Madonna as a big influence, especially on her "Part of Me" 3-D concert movie, which hits theaters July 5, which was partially inspired by the Queen of Pop's 1991 film "Truth or Dare."

In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, the always-colorful starlet spoke about her upcoming big-screen adventure and how "Truth or Dare" led to its creation.
"Madonna is everything to me, and that movie is amazing, because it caught her at a time when she was a bit more vulnerable," Perry said of the film, which chronicled the icon's Blond Ambition Tour. "I wanted to do that too, to capture a snapshot of who I am now so that I can remind myself what I've lost if I ever do become totally jaded."

The topics covered in "Part of Me" include the singer's strict, religious upbringing, being dropped from her label early in her career and her candy-coated California Dreams Tour. Perry, who spent much of 2011 and early 2012 on the trek, explained that her interest in documenting her life began even before the tour started.
"When we started to book these really big venues, I felt like I was going all in," she said. "And I figured that by the end of it, I'd be bankrupt, or else I'd look like he smartest music businesswoman of my age, and I thought either outcome would be interesting." More importantly, the chart-topper wanted the general public to see how the Katy Perry machine really works.

On Tuesday, the trailer for the anticipated flick surfaced, appeasing Katy Cats for the time being. In the two-minute preview, Katy's rise to stardom remains a key theme of the film as flashback footage and photos of the singer's younger days is shown.

Justin Bieber Recording With One Direction, Usher

Justin Bieber is loading up on all-stars for his Believe album. The latest is none other than the world's hottest boy band: One Direction.

Direction member Niall Horan broke the news on his Twitter feed Wednesday, writing, "In the studio with our boy @ last night, it's gona sound great!" Bandmate Liam Payne confirmed the Internet-shattering collabo, adding, "Got a first listen to Justin Bieber's new album yesterday wowww big songs!!! It's gunna be a smash ... Expect the unexpected :O." Bieber seemed to enjoy the hang with his new pals as well, responding to Payne with the tweet, "@ Thanks buddy. Good chillin with u guys."

As the Huffington Post reported, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, seeded the promise of the shriek-inducing duet, tweeting about the potential One Direction studio action, "[A collaboration is] very possible. He likes them and thinks they are good dudes. All people of that generation should be there to help each other."
The singer is also making some beautiful music with his mentor and guiding light, Usher. On Wednesday, the Biebs tweeted that he was in the studio with, "@ and @ going in!" He didn't reveal the name of the song Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am was working on for the pair, but followed with the (grammatically challenged) amped-up thought, "Me and @ gotta have a duet on every album."
They're just a few of the superstars he's recruited for the project. Mike Posner was the co-producer on "Boyfriend," and other bold-faced names in the mix include Timbaland, Drake
and Pharrell, as well as possible assists from Lil Wayne, Ke$ha and Kanye West
.

Bieber has already landed a hit with the first single, "Boyfriend"
 which sold 520,000 downloads
 in its first week.

He has plenty of other things to celebrate as well. On Wednesday, the The Hollywood Reporter said that Bieber and Braun will pick up hardware at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival at the Disruptive Innovation Awards ceremony, where they will be honored for their contributions "in the world of business, technology, arts, entertainment and beyond."

The April 27 ceremony will specifically pay tribute to the pair for the "historic discovery of Bieber on YouTube and his subsequent social media rise."

One Direction: They Can Sing, But Can They Act?

One Direction fans, get ready, because you are about to get a double dose of the boy band this Saturday night. The British pop sensation will take the stage as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" and will also make their television acting debut on Nickelodeon's "iCarly."

Fans have been patiently waiting for the special episode, "iGo One Direction," since it was taped in January. MTV News visited the set of "iCarly" recently to talk to the cast about their exciting guest stars.

Noah Munck, who plays Gibby, gave us a preview of what will happen on Saturday's show, including One Directioner Harry Styles catching a disease called "jungle worms" from Carly. "Gibby is a huge fan of One Direction, he screams like a little girl every time they come in the room, so that definitely was a fun episode to shoot," Munck said.

And in terms of their acting abilities, it seems like the One Direction boys got rave reviews from the cast. "Having One Direction on set was really cool, we didn't really know what to expect from them, because we had heard that they didn't really have any acting experience because they have a lot of lines and are almost in every scene. So we were uncertain as to how well the shooting would go," Nathan Krauss said. "But we were all very pleasantly surprised they did very, very well, especially Harry, because he had to pretend to be sick the whole time. ... It was cool, just seeing the five of us mesh with the five of them."

In addition to adjusting to five new people on set, the "iCarly" cast also had to deal with the hundreds of screaming fans who waited outside the show for hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the 1D boys.
"It was a crazy day here," Munck said. "Along the fence of our studio was like maybe 200 screaming girls. I'm like, 'Oh are they here for me?' No, they're here for the band. I hear they tried to push the gates down to get in. It got intense."

Yet, the biggest 1D fan of them all might just be the star of "iCarly" herself, Miranda Cosgrove.
"I've known about them for probably the last two years, so I liked them a lot," Cosgrove said, saying she first discovered the band watching the U.K.'s "The X Factor." "I was really excited to have them on the show. Every one of them was really funny and they all knew their lines and I think they have very good chemistry and they seem like really good friends."

Justin Bieber Drops New 'Boyfriend' Video Tease

Justin Bieber shared a new teaser on Tuesday (April 3) for his highly anticipated "Boyfriend" video.
He tweeted out the short tease days after he dropped the first tease on Friday. The new footage from the Colin Tilley-directed clip focuses on Bieber as he motionlessly floats underwater. Another shot from the blink-and-you-might-miss-it preview features the teen star, in a leather hoodie, standing in front of a burning tire swing.

The first tease featured a shot of Bieber looking at the camera as ladies' hands caress his face and chest.
And that's it. So, what does it all mean? Fans will have to wait until the video's release to find out.
When MTV News caught up with Bieber on the set of his "Boyfriend" video, he shared that the elements would play heavily into the theme of the video. "The concept of this video, I mean it's not like a steady concept," he said about the clip. "It's not like 'Justin follows this girl to this spot.' No, it's a bunch of amazing scenes: Like a fire scene, we have an ice scene.

"It's kind of like bouncing back and forth," he said. "And then there's scenes of me and just a bunch of girl dancers, and just some great shots, great artistic shots, great shots of me smiling. It's fun."
"Boyfriend" is the lead single off his forthcoming album, Believe, set for release later this year. It was produced by Mike Posner and Mason Levy.

Anticipation for the album seems to be quite high. The song sold 520,000 downloads in its first week. What does that mean? Well, it places Bieber at #2 in all-time first-week singles sales, behind Flo Rida's record-holder "Right Round," which moved 636,000 units in its first week.

Part Of Me Trailer

Katy Perry has proven to be an expert tease in offering up details about her highly anticipated big-screen debut in "Katy Perry: Part of Me," due July 5. But on Tuesday (April 3), we finally got a glimpse of what to expect via the first official trailer.

The nearly two-minute teaser opens with a shot of Perry onstage, with her otherworldly "E.T." playing in the background, followed by quick cuts to footage of her Candy Land-esque California Dreams Tour and a voice-over about her meteoric rise to fame.

"Katy's just an explosion. She just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger," a man says in one testimonial, which plays behind flashes of her impressive statistics — the "first female to have five #1 singles on one album" — interspersed with scenes from her music videos for "California Gurls," "Waking Up in Vegas" and "Teenage Dream."
"It's always about the challenge," another man says, with behind-the-scenes footage of Perry rehearsing and getting fitted for costumes playing. "What are people saying she can't do? That's what she does next. Every song has something to do with her life."
"She outworks everyone," another friend says. "I honestly don't know how she does it."
As headlines of Perry's divorce flash onscreen, "E.T." fades away and we hear the opening notes of "Firework," which provides the background music for scenes and interviews about Perry's religious childhood, her struggles in being signed to different labels and not being successful and ultimately how she powered through and kept believing in herself to become the superstar she is today.
The end of the trailer is a mash-up of behind-the-scenes images from her very colorful concert tour and countless interactions with happy fans.
"If you have a dream, you're going to go on a journey to fulfill that dream," Perry says as the trailer fades to black.

Perry recently told MTV News that the movie is a fitting end to her adventure in promoting and touring for her Teenage Dream album.
"It's closing the chapter on Teenage Dream, but it's giving you such an inside perspective," Perry said when asked what fans will get out of the movie-going experience this summer. "This film, you're going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything."

The recent Kids' Choice Aard winner promised that while there will be eye-catching 3-D sequences, they won't be cheap tricks.
"Listen, I've [worked on] most of this film for a very long time and the word 'cheap' was not in the vocabulary," she said. "But, hello, it's 3-D. You're going to get hit with a lot of sh--."
